Dirty upgrade to /e/OS-T is possible ! (But not for all devices)

It is confirming that is said above, moving from Q to higher needs a formating of the /data partition.

Yes, just to confirm.
But here is one which I still don’t really understand and should be a warning for anyone jumping to much higher builds and Android versions:

I will try, what he said he did, as a test. I gave away a good number of S7 and would not like to see anyone experience such troubles.

Several days after my last message: successfully updated my FP3+ from 1.9 to 2.7 today! The file was the key. Thanks piero!
For information, I found this link to the different builds types.
No data loss and App Lounge works again! Apart from the unexplained disappearance of the emoji shortcut on the keyboard (any explanation?), everything works.

One more dirty upgrade, with out problems;

Somewhat extreme, but related:

For those who do not have R-1.20… which was required before moving to any S-2…

I tested this Galaxy S7:

And from /e recovery I could – without any warning – flash: e-2.7-s-20250109460371-official-herolte.zip!

yes, upgrade from R cause no problem…

Can I “dirty upgrade” from T to U as well?
Or is that risky?..

depend of your device, do the verification descripted in the beggining of the thread
(is there stock OS evolution for your device, are firmware /parts include or not into the .ZIP)

Thanks. Can I assume since my device software isnt maintained from the manufacturer that the firmware is on its last version as well?
Its a Sony XZ3 “akatsuki”.

so, yes you can for sure…
