Easy-installer s7 herolte stuck at sideloading from ADB

Hey, trying to install e/os on the s7 herolte using the easy-installer. Followed all steps till the last step of the Restart device in recovery mode section "Select “Apply update from ADB”
Nothing happens at that point. I think that’s the step where it’s supposed to sideload the ROM. In the log it says “last instruction reached instruction”. On the phone it’s just waiting for something to be sideloaded.
Tried downloading the e/os ROM for my device and sideloading it manually with adb which is not possible because it says “adb: sideload connection failed: device unauthorized” checking with adb devices it did say unauthorized.
Rebooting the system goes back to the stock OS and having to do the initial setup again and reenabling developer mode and USB debugging. Checked with adb devices that it’s now authorized and it says the device number with the word device behind it so I assume it’s authorized then.
Did the steps in easy-installer again just to that point to be stuck on again and adb again not showing as authorized. I tried this three times by now.

So what do I do? Is the easy-installer just not working with the s7? Everywhere it says it does. Do I have to use TWRP now? I’d like to avoid it because I bricked a phone with it once.

Hi @Kennyomega08080, welcome to this Forum.

In the recovery-e advanced menu, there is an option to enable “adb sideload”…

.

In case you are fedup with the buggy easy-installer :

@Kennyomega08080, you might compare your experience with these two recent easy-installer experiences.

In both these cases the problem might well be explained / likely by Galaxy S8 does not reboot into e Recovery screen - #21 by Xxpsilon.

tried it and the option to enable it disappeard right after. got a little notification below that says “Enabled adb” checked with adb devices on my PC and it still says unauthorized and I still can’t manually sideload and the easy-installer isn’t doing anything either.

Have you tried from SDcard (or /internal storage but after the factory-reset or wipe or format) using recovery-e or using TWRP ?

I prefer not to use TWRP. SDcard I could try but I don’t see an option in recovery-e to load from a file only to apply update from ADB

I see it after choosing “Apply Update” (when there is a file), but some others says they don’t see it, can depend on device model or recovery-e version.

Anyway, you can use TWRP and it will be overwritted if you Tick the “update recovery” box during the /e/ first boot setup wizzard,
Or during next system update if you select “update recovery” in the settings → system updater → settings (3 dot menu).
Or after installing /e/, and reboot to TWRP, you can use it to flash the recovery-e.img

So you mean I should boot into stock OS again and then try installing twrp and e/os with that? Or what /e/ first boot setup wizard do you mean? It sounds like I can install twrp directly in the recovery-e which doesn’t sound right to me.

NO !

You need Odin or Heimdall to install TWRP

But TWRP can install the recovery-e as it can manage .ZIP and .IMG files (for kernel or recovery unstallation).

When the recovery-e cannot install TWRP as it only manage .ZIP files.

Tried twrp. No luck. Tried wiping like written in the linked guide. Got error messages. Tried formatting like stated. Getting stuck there. Forced reboot getting stuck on the team win logo. Flashed stock ROM again.

Seems like there’s no way installing a custom ROM on the S7 when twrp and recovery e don’t work.

edit: got it working. TWRP 3.3.1.0 is necessary. Newer versions of TWRP don’t seem to work well with the s7.
