With the latest update, the Fairphone 6 hardware switch can be customized to change the one action it performs to one of several options (DND, flight mode, … – I don’t get why not multiple at the same time, but that’s off topic here I guess).
While this is certainly a lot better than what was possible before, I believe to become close to the FP6’s stock OS feature set, it’d be amazing if one could configure Android’s “Default home app” setting in the new switch customization preferences page.
The use case coming to my mind here would be to set the home app/launcher to a minimalistic launcher – there are dozens available on F-Droid, for example. This would allow users to closely mimic the stock OS behavior and and would enable a true “focus mode”.
Also, I believe this shouldn’t bee too hard to implement – it appears to be as simple as changing an Android system preference (?)
Lastly, but quite importantly: This would need to be implemented such, that it can be used in conjunction with the other available switch actions to be really useful – in my case, for example, I’d want DND and a minimalistic launcher to both be enabled, while the switch is activated.
[Notice: I can’t create an issue on /e/os’s Gitlab instance, because none of my email providers is whitelisted there – I’d be very glad if someone would do that for me!]
