Feedback for v1.21

I sometimes experience sort of laggy reaction of quick settings buttons for wifi and mobile data.
Never experienced that before, it started with this version.
I cannot reproduce systematically but every once in a while the buttons do not change color rightaway when touched but only after swiping the quick settings menu back up and down again.
The function of the buttons is still given: status icons do react according to button-interaction (4G on /off or wifi-symbol appears/disappears)… only that the button itself seems unresponsive for a while …

Had a total lockup today (updated yesterday) which has not happened before in the 3 months I’ve been using this setup. It froze completely during a Jitsi call.

Had to hard power-down and reboot.

Hello, there is no more build for “apollon” smartphones since 1.14 can you see why? merci d’avance

Forum search and the internet say “apollo” is an Amazon Fire HDX 8,9", which only shows up as a requested device, not with any /e/OS build.

What exactly are you running? Please refer to [HOWTO] Give complete /e/OS version info easily for support, answers, comparison etc

There was a gap in builds for apollon as we discussed here No more OTA updates for the xiaomi Mi 10T Pro (apollon)? - #4 by aibd.

However builds resumed … https://images.ecloud.global/dev/apollon/ … maybe a gap resulted in OTA.

sorry I spelled “apollon” wrong

Ah … but there are builds, as pointed out by @aibd.
You don’t get any update offered by the updater? You could try the following …

I could see on the builds page that there were some new ones, indeed. I don’t know why OTA updates were no longer offered automatically.
I took the time to switch my smartphone to Android T (successfully) at noon, and I’ll be watching to see if updates are offered later.

thanks

Edit :
App Lounge shows “Anonymous account unavailable”
I cleared the cache several times, it doesn’t work.

Could these 2 (magic earth and app lounge) have something to do with microG ?

Installed: R (official) ~ “stable” e-1.21-r-20240323388914-stable-dream2lte

For the clean installation I once again used the /e/asy installer v.20.1. It downloads version e-1.18-r-20231207360610-stable-dream2lte as the latest stable image. The /e/asy installer procedure was not processed to the final end. It stopped at the ‘OEM’ instruction and no longer offered a ‘Next’ button. Nevertheless, I was able to reboot and set up the system manually. Then the OTA update to /e/OS R (official) ~ ‘stable’ e-1.21-r took place.

:information_source: I had a similar experience with the /e/asy installer here

Installed a few days ago, everything seems to work fine. Thank you!

BUT I really cannot stand the 2-3 extra icons in the icon tray, which I cannot deactivate, are totally useless for me, and hide the important ones :scream:. Please please add a proper toggle on-off in the next version so we can really keep tuning

All is resolved in update 2.0  !

Xiaomi HyperOS 1.0.3.0

Android 14

With HyperOS (1.0.3.0) / Android 14, Xiaomi has introduced a new harassing bootloader unlocking procedure. The bootloader unlock waiting time is now at least 30 days from registration with the Xiaomi community App v5.3.31 or higher (mandatory!).

Xiaomi slogan:

Xioami Community
Better Together

The unlocking procedure as with MiUI Global 14.0.11 (Android 13) is no longer valid.

Since a downgrade to Android 13 is only possible with a locked bootloader, it is now called: Wait at least 30 days, only then can the next step be taken. Thank you very much, Xiaomi :bangbang:

@Manoj Maybe a disclaimer for Xiaomi would be good?

To be sure before I perform the update:
Can I start from ‘Steps to install /e/OS from recovery’? I can start from /e/ recovery.
I made a backup with ‘openandroidbackup.me
Are there any other important things that I should not forget?
thank you in advance for the help
Have a nice day further
Erik

Two issues related to how ringtones and notifications are handled

Names are not updated
The names of ringtones and notifications are not updated, even if you restart your phone. The only solution is to delete the files and transfer/download them again.

Adding ringtones manually after re-downloading files creates duplicates
If I download rintones/notifications, then delete them and download them again, the phone will not detect them, even though they are in the correct folder. Restarting or refreshing does not help. If I then add a ringtone/notification manually by clicking on the pluss icon and selecting a file, the file browser creates a duplicate and I am stuck with Ringtone(1) and Ringtone. This drives me mad… I like order.

Sounds good to me, but I don’t have the device.

If I have a look at “What is backed up?” there, it sounds pretty good, once you had a look at the backup and the files look ok to you.

As “App data is not saved due to Android restrictions.”, you could go through Apps important to you and see whether they offer an export/backup function to save their data to import it again after reinstalling.

As “SMS messages and call logs cannot be restored at the moment.”, you could use an App which offers to do this, like e.g. https://f-droid.org/packages/com.github.tmo1.sms_ie/

Wrong topic?

Thanks a lot @AnotherElk for the app, really what i needed.
Fyi, the default SMS/message app can export/import/save the messages but only SMS. MMS is not saved.
Perhaps we could ask an improvement to include the feature of the app you make us discover in /e/OS message app in order to just add backup of MMS, what is the only stuff missing today
