Feedback for v2.3

Hi Had a message this morning to update /e/OS to version 2.3. I downloaded it and then clicked install now it only boots to murena logo with a message saying
de-verify corruption
your device is corrupt
it can’t be trusted and may not work properly
press power button to continue.
or. device will power off in 5s
I have managed to get it into recovery mode and tried the Format Data /Factory reset option. It has deleted the data but not factory reset. the phone is a Murena 1 purchased last September.

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

If you expect the factory reset to install an older version of the OS … it will not do that in the Android world.
I know the naming is confusing, but the Android “factory reset” only deletes user data, Apps installed by the user and their data as well as settings.

The phone should then boot the currently installed OS version and present the initial user setup. Does it do this for you?

No it boots to the said screen with the same message. I have downloaded /e/OS version 2.3 however it will not allow me to unlock the Boot loader. I am using the command ```
fastboot flashing unlock_critical i say yes on the phone but it fails.

I have now tried sideloading via adb that hasn’t worked either error messages on the file. I then tried an older version of the OS with the same error messages. Need some help with this. Has anyone had similar issues with the update.

So, I did this… thank you for pointing it out. This morning, taking out my phone to check an email, it happened again - soft reboot to the murena logo. First thing I thought was “huh, so it’s not the update process at all”.

then, a popup appeared… 3 new app updates available.

@Manoj

Can you please explain to me/us what the game plan is here for FP5 users?

There is another checkbox in the same location “Show available updates” (if you want to suppress that notification).

After the update to v2.3 the device reboots each and every time I play a video from Newpipe. Videos from Telegram play seamlessly, but whenever I play PipePipe/Newpipe videos (even in the background) the device reboots and it is very annoying.

Will downgrade to the previous version until further news about this.

Just to try to explain the error you report, the Murena One install page Install /e/OS on a Murena Murena One - “one” does not mention adb sideload. The “standard” Rom linked is IMG-e-2.3-s-20240816426374-stable-one.zip the leading "IMG is a hint that this is installed by fastboot. Edit with an unlocked bootloader and subsequent loss of data.

There is a “secret” link to the OTA downloads Builds – Django REST framework look for “url” at the top of the list.

I don’t have any Muena one experience. As you purchased from Murena, as a customer you might better ask for support from helpdesk@murena.io.

Thanks.
yes i have Logged it with Murena helpdesk but nothing so far. I did try and install the img by fastboot but that didnt work either as it wouldnt allow me to unlock the bootloader

Impossible to upgrade, app crashes consistently:

Device CodeName 5
Version of /e/OS or Stock which existed previously: 2.2-t-20240715417772-stable-FP5

Not rooted

Redownloaded the 2.3, app crashes consistently.

Ok, I can say that 2.3 does not fix the reboot issue on FP5. After two days of runtime it did it again.
So we wait for 2.4 …

Advanced Privacy VPN is not working anymore. Already deleteted cache and data. No change. In Firefox IP Check it shows my real ip adress. Only when Firefox is configured to use Orbot as proxy it works.

So far no other issues.

Edit: Solution: Advanced Privacy must be set under Settings / Network / VPN as “always connected”.

Edit 2: Advanced Privacy looses the region setting of tor exit node.

Sure, but it just goes to show the problem is likely connected with the checking process for updates, or at least loosely correlated with it. Which can be handy info for the devs who have so far not managed to fix their flagship phone.

All seems to work initially fine :+1::ok_hand::star_struck:. Thanks to all involved!

Finally i noticed how to activate FairPhone’s Camera App (via: settings - Apps); very simple and straightforward app and makes good pictures too :cowboy_hat_face::sunglasses: - well done FairPhone!

Update to 2.3 has mostly gone well but just noticed there’s no notification sound on incoming texts or Facebook messages even though sound volume is set to max. Used to work before uodate. Ring tone still works on calls. Also no notification dot or light on missed calls or messages. I didn’t change settings in any way after update. Notification settngs looks like it’s set properly in device settings.

Nvm I figured out my do not disturb was turned on :joy:
