Feedback for v2.6.3

I just bought a Google Pixel 8, as the devices list and the docs page about it indicate it has easyinstaller support. However, running the easyinstaller, it says my device is not supported. Similarly with the web-based easyinstaller, it can’t find an image for my device.

I’ve looked into the CLI installation, but there too it seems there are no official or community builds for the pixel 8.

As mentioned above the release is staggered from 20 to 26 Dec. All builds have not been released as yet.

Update went smooth, as usual.
Big thanks to the DEV team and I wish you all happy holidays!

Had the same problem on gta4xl (LTE version). A “Factory data reset” did solve the problem for me.

I tried the “Factory data reset” but the behaviour is still the same.

I consider the upgrade of the Samsung Tab S6 Lite (Wi-Fi) - “gta4xlwifi” as broken.
And now my data is lost (made a backup though but this is not covering all apps)

Very cool, thanks to all the people (still?!) working on the future of eOS

I can confirm this behaviour on a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge zeroletexx

For me, installing Fossify Launcher, brought the phone in a working state. No data lost …

Fossify Launcher (Customize your home screen with a fast, ad-free, open-source launcher)

DATA LOSS warning

boot phone into download mode
flash recovery (method depends on OS)
forcefully reset phone after recovery is flashed (volume down, bixby, power)
right after screen goes black start holding volume up, bixby, power in order to boot into recovery
you have to boot into recovery right away, as it is not flashed into ROM and will disappear otherwise
Now you should be in new recovery

MIND that this update will FORCE you to wipe everything - including DATA
There is no way to avoid that

Updating to 2.6-U require DATA wipe
You cannot update without data wipe, as data partition will be completely GONE after update. Data may still be in same spot, that is reason why you have been able to recover data.

Thank you for the info. This makes things complicated as many apps or its settings are not being backed up so I need to save a lot of info manually.

I will give the S6 tablet another try tomorrow and see if I can make it accept the upgrade with wiping everything. I assume you refer to wiping as described in the device manual by first installing recovery, than wipe and then install the upgrade, correct?

No issues so far, 2.6.3 eOS is running well.
But it was a long way to get there, it took me one day. Updating e-recovery by heimdall, wipe data/factory reset, adb sideload 2.6.3-zip, reinstalling all apps…

Thanks to the community team in every way and relaxing holidays to all.

Official lag behind community by couple days. Just be patient.

I first successfully installed the 2.6.3-recovery using Heimdall, then used “adb sideload” to install the upgrade. Finally, after I factore reset my device, everything was working.
Good luck.

This did not work for the S6 lite WiFi as shown here Feedback for v2.6.3 - #47 by ne20002.

Hi @Manoj ,

Pixel 5 (redfin) just got a 2.6.3 releases for android T.
From my understanding an android U should be released.
Does that mean that we will have it in an upcoming release ?

Thanks in advance for your answer

Everything working so far. Still with the bug in the selection of mobile networks.
Thanks to the team!
Merry Christmas and a lot of success in the comming year!

Hi,

i think you have the official Version installed?
The official version of every phone besides pixel Tablet and Fairphone 4 ist based on Android 13.
If you want to go to Android 14, you have to flash the community version manually.
I will not do that and i think, that Android 14 will come official within one of the next releases.

The community build has been released on U. The official version remains on T for now. Will update as to when we would be able to share the official U build for the redfin
