Screen Mirroring does not work since the android U upgrade and wlan has to be reset once in a while by switching flightmode on and off ever since v1 … other than that, all ok - thanks again e-team !

Hi DimP,

What you described happened also to me (though I didn’t check if this is systematic for me and on which /e/OS versions); it took me some time to figure out the situation that you described very precisely.

Does anyone has other info about this one?

Thanks

Nedo, that sounds pretty similiar to what i experience with wlan since some versions on my murena FP4 too.

After a few days of use on a pixel tablet, I’ve noticed that the app store doesn’t allow downloads of certain apps - freeciv go, for example. I can download it with my fairphone 5 no problem, but on the pixel tablet when i try, the app store redirects to the play store, and asks me to login. Other apps simply will not download (eg, the netflix civ vi app, which again I can download to my phone - spot the theme :world_map:)

Any ideas, @Manoj?

Thanks

Since the OTA update to 2.8 the native Maps program crashes on load. I tried wiping the apps cache but still persists.

Did you also try to delete the App DATA?
This will remove all settings and brings them to factory settings.

I did not as I did not want to have to re-downloaded 4gb of data but I just did that and the are back. That is pretty disappointing to have to do, but thank you for suggestion @olli0371

I have a 1 month old Fairphone 4 with Murena eOS 2.7. I have been trying to update the OS to 2.8, but the download/install keeps getting interrupted. What should be less than an hour process is, at this pace, going to take 2-3 hours. After the first hour I’ve had to press resume at least 20 times. I regularly run updates on the same wifi network on my desktop and other phones with no problem. What’s going on? Can I do update with usb? I’m open to any troubleshooting suggestions!

Is it download or install that keeps getting interrupted?
In case the issue is caused by sleep mode of device/screen it may help to set caffeine (quick settings menu, slide down from top of screen and configure tiles if not available rightaway) to say 30 min and restart the update process.

If the suggestion of Obacht

doesn’t work then you could try to check if it works to download from a browser:

What I observed is, that the open camera still isn’t be able to take 48MP shots. You can select 8000x6000 (4:3 48MP), but no effect on the resolution.

Thanks for suggestion. I plugged in my phone to charge during download because it was taking so long and it seems to have improved dramatically. Is that possible?

Other than trouble with download (I mentioned elsewhere), all my widgets were taken out of action after installling 2.8. Note: I use Fossify Launcher, so I am fairly certain that this is where the root of the problem lies, but obviously it interacts with eOS install. After the installation, my widgets became invisible, or only showed elements of the full widget; I could usually launch the apps by clicking on the widget; even long-press would bring up resize/remove menu - but no useful functionality at all.

good it worked out ! :+1: not sure though in which way charging the battery would help with the update process (as long as the battery has a decent charging level) even though of course it makes sense if the system requires “sufficient” power for the update… maybe power saving settings of some sort had been interfering with the process whilst only on battery (?)

have you tried clearing the cache of fossify launcher?

Good idea, but I fixed the problem the hard way…removed and reinstalled widgets (with some tedious configurations). Not a huge deal, but i don’t want to do it with every new build of eOS. Will try your suggestion first next time.

After updating to v2.8 I have App Lounge issues in Anoymous mode.
There is some randomness on how the issues appear.

  • It shows all apps while only source apps are selected
  • Then it shows pwa and all apps but no open source apps
  • When open source apps are visible and I try to install one I get this error “Cannot show Google Playapp while only Open Source Apps are allowed”, and then it is stuck with a spinning wheel.

I did all steps like: login out, login in again, clear cache, clear storage. Without success.

Maybe try Aurora store App
