Thanks for information. Still no change from my side (nor my spouse), always “renew session” in bootloop.
Though, it doesn’t really matter as Aurora works fine

One day later it is possible again to install Apps. The message “renew session” still appears, but after ignoring it is possible to use AppLounge as usual.
Only the privacy estimation is not present in the overview screen, but in the single App view there it is again!
That’s exactly my lucky situation.
The AppLounge still has problems with listing OSS apps. E.g. Thunderbird and K9 are available in f-droid but do not show up as open source app in AppLounge.
Update to 2.8-t worked as expected. No problem for one week now. Thanks to the team!!!

I've lost the fingerprint function. I don't understand why because it wasn't lost just after the update.
Perhaps it is a hardware failure.

Problem with seedvault backups
FP5 - purchased from Murena, pre-installed with e/os 2.7 and updated to 2.8.
I have been unsucessful in setting up Seedvault to backup our phones (FP5’s on e/os 2.8) to an external device.I don’t know if this worked OK on 2.7 because I didn’t test it.
Seedvault has all permissions, starts doing the backup and fails before it can complete the last items - contacts, Notes and AppLounge. I have tried an sd card and pen drive. I have cleared the cache and set up Seedvault again. It makes no difference.
I prefer to do local backups but, will use the cloud if necessary.
It appears that this was a problem a few years ago but, does not seem to have been mentioned recently.
I would like to be able to back up apps, notes, contacts. Data, I can do myself. I also founds that I could do notes and contacts manually but, would prefer a more automated system.
Indeed, seedvault can only backup apps that allow to do so. In my case, only 40% of all my apps can be backed up.
It also save some system settings that can be useful to restore later on.
I didn’t really mind that Seedvault didn’t backup everything but, the problem was that the backup didn’t complete. I am assuming that this is why I didn’t get the option to restore tbe backup. I could try to exclude all apps and then try again?
I would say it worth to try indeed.

Thanks to the developers; the 2.8 version is better than previous one.
Now I can phone, more or less with my 2 SIMs (a physical one and a esim - 2 different french providers); before it was impossible.
But:
As a Seedvault sealion: actually if d2d is set (possible in A14+/U+ builds), it will backup the app userdata despite apps not allowing it. But if the App doesn’t use any of the inbuilt functions for backup Android offers (explicitly or implicitly) there’s going to be no backup.
So it’s less about being allowed than basic ability. But then it’s the same backup Google Android users get. Read some more on why Signal has technically Android backup, but it’s not the backup you thought and you should still setup the Apps own mechanism at Seedvault and Backups - #6 by tcecyk (still a Seedvault fan)
Everything works fine except that the phone keeps showing every night that the storage is full (which is not) during a couple of minutes, and sometimes reboots.
So I cannot trust the alarm clock …
Hello,
I have the same issue on Fairphone 5
The fingerprint feature disappeared from parameters menus without explanation.
I do not known how I can check if it is a hardwtor software issue.
My phone has not fallen or been damaged in any way that would explain this malfunction.
it’s very frustrating because this fingerprint function saves a lot of time
topic:
i have the same phone and no issues with the fingerprint reader.
I would try to wipe the phone and install the operating system from scratch. If this does not help, it may be a hardware fault.
I can confirm this problem. In App Lounge I cannot find Thunderbird from F-Droid (“open source”), only from Play Store (“common apps”). This is annoying and I hope it will get fixed.
e/OS/ 2.8-t and e/OS/ 2.9-t on Fairphone 5
I can also confirm that the Bliss launcher crashes even while I try not to use it at all, because I am using the Lawnchair launcher. That issue is already reported at GitLab: Bliss Launcher silently crashes in the background even when not default launcher (#3) · Issues · e / os / System apps update info · GitLab
e/OS/ 2.8-t on Fairphone 5
…and despite those two issues and some other nuisances my experience with e/OS/ on Fairphone 5 is great: It’s fast and smooth and stable and clear and I really like it.
