Feedback for v2.9

Thanks for the advice about SD Maid for clearing my app cache. I will try it and let you know.

SD Maid 2 app cleaner keeps complaining that it can’t connect to Google play. All the other modules work ok except the app cleaner

  • any ideas?

No, I never had that sort of issue with none of these apps… But…I am never logged in GPS and I only rarely use app lounge at all, so maybe log out of app lounge and try install in anonymous mode or via FDroid

This one: GitHub - bmx666/android-appcachecleaner: Android Cache Cleaner. As you say deprecated, the link above contains

This repository was archived by the owner on Dec 20, 2024. It is now read-only.

There are special instructions for Android 13 in the readme. I found it a little awkward to use in A13. With settings reduced to short lists of apps to clear in A14, I continue to use it, but is time consuming, and I have to edit the lists from changing experience [1]

I still use Version 2.2.9
com.github.bmx666.appcachecleaner which is the last release dated October 2024.

Maybe the .apk would install from Releases in the link, but I have not had the experience of trying to install on A14.

[1] A simpler method which I just used, is to deal with user apps alone first, I have found these usually ok. Apps to clear are listed “largest cache first”, so with System apps I first cleared the cache of the top 6 apps, then twice the top 10 apps. Meanwhile I had noted the reported size of the cache before and after clearing. Finally I ran clear cache of all 243 system apps.

Unable to delete a scheduled SMS, the app crashes

I used this one on my phone, /e/OS 2.9 (so Android 13) : Cache Cleaner | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository

I installed it directly from fdroid and used all default settings. It worked flawlessly :person_shrugging:

Same for me, I guess they still do have issues while building the ROM.

Hi

Thank you Xxpsilon. I actually managed to do that using your advice. While less convenient than using the PC for the transfer it’s a good solution if problems like mine arrived.

  • Vendor Name : Samsung
  • Device name : S7
  • Device CodeName : herolte
  • Version of /e/OS or Stock which existed previously : 2.8-s
  • Is the device Rooted / Not rooted : Not rooted

Update went smoothly, however i’ve noticed that the r/e/covery keeps overwriting my custom recovery (TWRP). Before, this happpened only after an update, now each time i boot in system…
Updating recovery is left unchecked in the updater. Any ideas ?

I have been waiting for the issue to reappear, but of course nothing so far. After being a reappearing issue for months now. Seems that something in this update might habe resolved the issue. Even tjough it took a few restarts of the phone.

I will keep an eye open and run the tests in case it occurs again.

Thank you!

  • Vendor Name - Google
  • Device name - Pixel 6 Pro
  • Device CodeName - Raven
  • Version of /e/OS or Stock which existed previously - Other
  • The device is not rooted

Smooth sailing. Thanks to the team for another great build.

Not sure if it still happens to others, but the mail password bug that seems to me like it should be fixed isn’t for me.

My password gets overwritten each time soon after i set correct credentials. On my main murena account. It puts some 2fa password there (probably the one from account manager). On another murena account and another different mail account this doesn’t happen. I am on 6.711-2.

And browser behaves weird. Quite often when switching to different tabs the page content is black. Switching to different app and back or reloading the page helps.

Black screen also on some video fullscreen playback like peertube iirc.

Samsung S10e. Not rooted. 2.8 prev.
