Interesting. I just installed this update as usual via the updater. But reading this, possibly explains some more problems I’m having. Like no Internet during calls. Though I’m pretty sure this issue persists not only since 2.9. And camera breaks regularly after some time using. But tbh I guess that might be Hardware related.

Fairphone 5
Version 2.9

Does anybody here experience that the Fairphone camera only records the left channel in video mode ?

Edit:
To dumb. If the hole of the mic is closed, then there is no sound of course…

Closed.

Still can’t use my mail app even after updating it with the latest version, still having this bug where the password I had to generate in order to connect my account isn’t working to connect my mail account in the mail app but is forced in the mail app, every time I try to put my main password, it’s replaced by the generated password.

I think that @ronnz98 suggested and fix for this issue. I guess now we have to be patient.

Use AppLounge to upgrade Mail application to 6.711-2 (or newer), then update your e-mail password again, and it should not be replaced any more.

Already did, it keeps replacing my actual password with the one use password.
I had to remove 2FA because the mail app kept spaming me that the password was wrong.

Please add the following details
Vendor Name Motorola
Device name moto g(9) play (XT2083-3)
Device CodeName guamp
Version of /e/OS or Stock which existed previously:
Stock android, last supported update (guamp)
Is the device Rooted/ Not rooted

No problems detected after the installation.

The installation however had some hurdles. To start with the description of the recovery…guamp.zip. There was no zip, but an img. So the file dtbo.img was not present, but had to be retrieved from payload.bin. I did this using Linux Mint 20.1, first installing python3-full, then python-venv from the distribution. Then within the venv-environment using pip to install payload_dumper from pypi.org. In my case payload_dumper worked correctly on the payload.bin in e-2.9…guamp.zip.
An analogue method can be used with python on MS-Windows.

I propose for further releases to include dtbo.img in recovery…guamp.zip.

Also I put e-2.9…guamp.zip and copy-partitions…ed.zip on a sd-card and used/installed them from the card rather than using a sideload.

Issue 1: since I updated to e/OS 2.9 I’m blocked in some websites.

Issue 2: since I updated to e/OS 2.9 some apps don’t work (p.e. bank app)

Issue 3: I think the Advance privacy system doesn’t work. If I choose an alternative IP but not for.the brooser it works wrong. And If choose to use my real IP for everything, the brooser thosen’t works at all (like if loosing conection)

Please, can somebody help me???
Thank you so much

Perhaps this is a case where you need to ask for support on your own thread.

There you can include specifics

As you get started, perhaps AP should be turned off (??) Perhaps think of it as ā€œReally advanced privacyā€ – lots of things might not work under these conditions.

Edit. Any app giving any difficulties after update, one should Clear cache. This applies to Browser and AP, many old hands used the app CacheCleaner, but this does not run nicely with Android 13(T).

Thanks for your reply. What confuses me is that if AP is disabled, any app that uses the web won’t work. I’ll open my own thread for help, okay.

On the other hand, the important thing is that my phone and apps were working fine with e/OS 2.8. So I think the update to e/OS 2.9 changed something about AP, and in my case, it’s not working well.

I’ll try to open a new thread about this, okay.

And a big thank you to all the developers working to make technology free and safe for everyone.

at the moment all is ok but it’s just few minutes from the update.

The browser somehow switched its selected search engine from Duckduckgo to Google, and then tried to protect me by redirecting me to some weird 9oo91e.qjz9zk pseudo-domain which displayed a ā€œblocked by Chromiumā€ error. I honestly significantly freaked out, thinking this was the result of some malware infection, then found out via a web search on my PC that this seemed to be simply a normal trick from the ungoogled-chromium project. Not sure why the setting was set on Google on its own though. Setting it back to another engine fixed this behavior.

Apart from this (and the good old clock-slash-accessibility visual glitch from Feedback for v1.21 - #223 by alice_m), still happy. I charged my years-old FP3+ to about 95 % eight days ago and still have 32 % left.

I’m experiencing some issues with my FP4 with version 2.9:

  • Sometimes, when I call someone using my e-SIM card, the ringtone plays, then it cuts out (call ended). I have to call my caller again.
  • There’s a bug: when you delete the call history list, sometimes a window appears regarding this deletion, but it doesn’t close. I have to tap the small button at the bottom of the screen.
  • When I use speakerphone mode to talk to my callers, they tell me they can’t hear me well. When I use my smartphone normally, they tell me it’s perfect.
  • Since upgrading to Android 14, I’ve felt like my smartphone is slow to boot.

Thanks.

Regards.

So I chose to download and then install this update, but phone reboots to recovery. If I choose ā€œreboot system nowā€ it just starts with the previous version and in settings it says update failed.

This belongs to the build feedback thread for 2.9 over here.
And You should add required information like device specifics etc. - otherwise nobody will be able to help.

so guess what. I have tried again. In the recovery environment chose ā€œapply updateā€, but there was only some old file and not 2.9. So then I have downloaded the file, put it manually on the SD card and because I am not sure how to reboot to recovery, I have attempted the update from the menu for the 3rd time and guess what - it did not go to recovery and updated itself successfuly
It’s Samsung Galaxy S10.

settings → search for ā€œadvanced restartā€
