Install e/OS on a Redmi Note 5

Hi,

I am new on this forum;
I would like to install e/OS on my Redmi Note 5;
Unhopfuly I saw only a Redmi Note 5 Pro and not a Redmi Note 5 only.
I wonder if I can use the data made for the Redmi Note 5 Pro for my Redmi Note 5.

Since Redmi Note 5 build is not (yet ?) available, you can try GSI builds in the meantime:

The device codename is critical.

I think it would be worth finding the device codename for your phone
[HOWTO] Find device codename. Quickest thing is to install AIDA64.

Here I have trawled through the “official list” and listed many similarly named devices.

In making a judgement, this is the /e/ supported device Redmi Note 5 Pro, whyred. From the list below there seems potential for confusion between Marketing name and Model.

When you establish the device codename, you might edit your thread title to include it, as About the Request a Device category.

According to XDA community 5 & 5 Plus are codenamed vince but, according to your post, Note 5 (non-Pro) are both vince and whyred…

I have choosen the quickest way, it means AIDA64 and I saw that my Redmi Note 5 is whyred.
I will read carefully all concerning this install… and probably come back soon

Be sure to get more corroborating evidence ! It is unusual to be trying to install /e/ on a device which is not an exact match with the /e/ page and the LineageOS page: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/whyred/

You may have some variant designed for a specific market. Is the phone fully operational in the country where you live ?

AIDA64 should reveal a lot about the hardware and the phone networks supported; I would be careful to ensure you have an exact match with the install documentation pages already linked.

You may learn something more about your device searching for a Stock ROM. It is always useful to know how to revert to stock ROM in case anything goes wrong. This is a reliable source, Xiaomi Firmware Updater by yshalsager.
