Samsung Galaxy S8 : seedvault message "Backup not enabled"

Hi all,

I try to setup the backup of my Samsung Galaxy S8 (SM-G950F) using seedvault to a new SD Card of 64Gb (formatted, empty with read/write capabilities). When I run “Save now”, I have the error message “Backup not enabled”. I have checked the access rights of the app and they are set to all files.

Same message when I try to backup using nextcloud.

/e/OS version : 3.6-s-20260312593429-official-dreamlte

Thanks for your help

Regards

seedvault was not fully working on /e/OS-S…

How to Backup and Restore your /e/OS phone

I ran an old thread where’s some adb cli introspection for seedvault, where you could enable it and set the default transport - [HOWTO] use Seedvault early to understand Android backup

That said, Seedvault got better-ish with A13/A14 and more warts removed with A15.
Seedvault in /e/OS based on Android 12 has a very old version.

Nextcloud as SV backup target (if not behind an apache) is unlikely to work, use the sdcard or internal disk and adb pull from there.

@piero and @tcecyk : thanks for your answer and your links. Your answers save me time, I will not try any more this useless app. I will continue to use adb from my computer for full backup.

understandably. But give it a second chance when you’re on A15, it improved
