Hello, I have been running e/os since a few months on my S10. It is occasionally impossible to make or receive phone calls. The solution is then to restart the phone. It happens radomly, sometimes just after making a phone call, the next call can not be made. Is this a common problem? Any suggestions?
I already tried the second simcard slot and confirmed the sim is working without issues on another phone.
there’s been threads and individual posts on audio issues in the feedback thread to that extent.
It’s not clear if it’s audio plumbing (call volume, sending, but not receiving voice or the opposite) or operator issues with 2g vs 4g voice calls (the latter not achieveable outside experimental builds).
To me it reads like a newly introduced issue in the audio subsystem.
People should test how their mic input and sound out behaves in messenger calls first, then check mobile network voice calls (2G for current official Samsung /e/OS owners).
It is not an audio problem, the phone just won’t even make the connection. Nothing happens, you click the call icon but no response. When someone tries to call me at that moment, they immediatly get my voicemail.
so audio always works in messenger (whatsapp, signal) calls? just as a backtest.
That a restart fixes things points to a subsystem crashing without recovery. An (adb) logcat at that moment could explain more when a call action will do nothing. Do you have the impression this was introduced with a specific /e/OS release?
It could be a bug/regression, not necessarily a 2G issue if the operator still does them (each country has a different phaseout year).
4G voice / VoLTE on Samsungs
Samsungs with official builds atm can only do 2G calls. If the operator starts to wind down 2G voice, the devices will be affected.
For some models there are experimental builds with ims, what enables volte / 4G calling. Afaik iodé bundles an open ims stack in their beta 7.7 builds for the S10 series. I’ve read positive feedback only for the S10e though, not S10.
For the S9 and others there are unofficial /e/OS builds in this forum with bundled ims.
Yes exactly, audio works fine in messenger apps on such a moment.
I will make an adb logcat when it happens!
