Sorry, maybe it does not work, my bad.
I assumed it would be possible to simply change the nextcloud-server-adress…
@Onkelpaulus 's idea seems to be the more straightforward way to do it.
I guess so too. But I can’t find anything on the net about whether this is really the case and, if so, where the files are located.
Correct, that works. However, I have over 600 notes, and if I select all of them and then ‘share’ them, it doesn’t work. The app is probably overwhelmed with so many notes.
Another way is to use a managed nextcloud for free over the nextcloud homepage, then log in via nextcloud app on your device.
Then you are able to choose this account when you try to move your notes in the notes app.
Usually I can find files in /Android/data/app_name, if they are not in Download path.
Thank you! I’ve now gotten to the point where I can select the Nextcloud account in the /e/ notes app.
But then how do I get all my 600 notes copied?
Under no circumstances should they be lost in the process…
PS: Unfortunately, I can only move notes and not copy them!
Maybe try with a single note that is not important and see if it works out well?
Yes, but I can only move the notes, not copy. So they are definitely no longer available in the /e/ Cloud. In addition, it is very cumbersome to mark all 600 notes. I don’t trust the app to move the 600 notes without errors. Why the hell is there no copy option??
Regarding Notes
Now on my FP5 which is installed after outage, first launch of Notes it asks to choose an account or use local storage. Regardless if I choose my Murena account or local storage, it just display the same question again. When I select to add account it immediately say I can only configure one Murena account on the device - but it did not even ask which server I wanted to synk with . Think it meant to say the OS+default apps can only one use one and all the same NC server, and I opted to connect to Murena .io for using Contacts. But then again why do it offer to add another account then?
Anyway, most reliably is just a file folder containing plain or markdown text files… and freely use any sync and backup mechanisms we want. There are notes managers and similar apps that work this way. One interesting app is obsidian.
Notes are stored as files in the murena cloud in the Documents/Notes
folder as I remember. This is why they remain unaccessible, they won’t be available again in the cloud until cloud data storage is available again.
Tasks on the other hand are with carddav caldav whatever, but not stored as plain text files like notes. Thus when they restored contacts and calendar it also made tasks available again.
Also, yes the Murena Notes app is a bit of a hacked version of Nextcloud Notes app, that is somewhat hard coded to go to the Murena cloud, and yes it seems not right it is not working without a Murena cloud connection. That is a personal frustration I have had with many of the Murena apps: they are forks of nextcloud apps but with hardcoded bits to make it less config to connect to the murena cloud but that makes them sort of broken in not being able to be used for other clouds like originally designed.
Possibly if you use a more advanced file browser you can look for the system Android folder for the murena / e foundation notes app and then see if in there you see any cached notes.
Moving multiple notes does not work. The app shows an error message.
I am probably forced to hope that Murena will restore the data at some point…
Any updates on the wip of the cluster? “Next Week” is almost over and there’s no update or ETA.
I hope it will be fixed before this topic automatically close
GL HF !
Hi all,
files on my Murena account are still locked after 7 october, and the server is told to be in maintenance mode.
Will this problem ever solved?
Many thanks. Marco
You can find an update here, on the weekly update page:
Very descriptive and useful.
But, please, avoid to use relative timing as “this week” that are unclear and become incorrect if read later.
Write “from 18 to 22 november 2024” and you’ll tell a message that cannot be misinterpreted later.
JM2C, Marco
I never said “this week”, and the link I provide points to Week 47. Pretty hard to misinterpret I think. But thanks for the good advice.
dear @GaelDuval
“this week” is already 3 days old. Please provide an ETA. Don’t worry if the ETA will turn out to be wrong, but for many of us it’s better to have a wrong ETA than to check back on your announcement-page just to retrieve… nothing new again. An ETA helps us planning.
Thank you
Unfortunately we cannot share an ETA yet as the storage cluster stabilization is an ongoing process that will take at least 96 hours more to go, and the result cannot be known in advance.
@Manoj I have a notification on my phone today saying “Your cloud storage is full. Please take action.” I guess that’s because the time of my paid subscription is over. Didn’t you say my subscription will be extended?
