Service Outage Announcement: 7 Oct 2024

I received the message and uploaded the ZIP file
It worked well but unfortunately it is an archive of June 24.
This reminds you of the importance of making your own backup frequently
Regards

Finally I did receive an E-Mail regarding access to the recovered workspace files.
I did follow the instructions to access the password in the password app, but unfortunately, the password app doesn’t contain any passwords (I have tried to look at all available folders, but I didn’t see any folder called ā€œBackup Archiveā€).

Does anybody know, how I can access my recovery password?

there may be a delay between sending the email and sending the password. I unzipped tonight when the mail had already arrived 2 days ago

Thanks for the info. Perhaps a more userfriendly approach would be to send the E-Mails AFTER the password is made available.

Well, I also got my zip download email. Yes, it is quite out of date, as others have remarked. Luckily, I had a local backup so I was not severely inconvenienced (ie didn’t have access cut off for several months to files I use every day) when it all went kaputt. Now, all I am waiting for is to gain access to the Files section of ecloud again so I can delete the encrypted files that are there, and have done with it.

My issue is that the download simply fails soon after it begins. How can I make the download link work?

Hello, I noticed the download took much more time that usual.

Shouldn’t all users have received the email by now? (I haven’t received one yet.)

We expect this last set of mails to be sent out this week.

When I go through to the download link, it simply fails after a few seconds. How do I download my files?

I installed Iron Browser on the phone and downloaded the zip file to my phone’s external storage. I then used KDEconnect to transfer to my PCLOS Debian. I had to login to my murena.io account, clicked on passeords, clicked on the Green Sheild and notified password copied to clipboard so I could extract into a sub folder with the same name as the archive. What I found strange was that if I clicked on the extracted folder it was asking for the password to open the archive again. My recovered files go up to 15th June. If the murena cloud is not backup by the time my subscription is due for renewal I may regretfully have to move back to pCloud, which whilst made in Switzerland, all the servers are in the U.S. if I’m not mistaken.

Greetings all,

Just learned about Murena and /e/OS after looking for a de-Googling option. Signed up for Murena Workspace to check out things out and I’ve run into an instant issue:

At the top of the page in a banner I read:
This version of Murena Workspace allows a minimal access only. This means some configuration you set previously (e.g. additional mail accounts) as well as some functionalities (e.g. Files, PGP) may not be there. You’ll find them back when everything goes back to normal.

I have access to a number of apps, but the drive function is mysteriously absent. I’d love to be able to check out the platform before purchasing a phone (99% sure, but after trialing other open source options, I want to make sure the apps can do what I need work-wise).

Any suggestions would be amazing!

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

Well if you would have read more in this topic you could have answered the question yourself.

If think this post is the shortes to get everything in detail:

But to anwser your question, you can’t use drive atleast until February. How long actually no one can tell.

In the beginning of the url field you have a settings icon. Tap it, select permissions and active javascript JIT.
You need to exit the page and come back again to activate it

Thanks for the warm welcome, mihi.

Update Jan 24 2025

This week’s update:

  1. Storage cluster filesystem: the copy of 1/3 users with problematic backup is still now complete. It will start to be processed next week to send remaining archives to these users.
  2. Backup recovery: appart from users in 1.:
  • all premium users received a link to their backup
  • all ā€œdonationā€ users received a link to their backup
  • 89% (and rolling) of ā€œfreeā€ users received a link to their backup. ETA for completion is Jan 26.

ETA for starting reintroduction of the file storage feature back at murena.io : Feb 10.

But I paid for murena cloud storage and haven’t received a link.
The last mail I got into my murena inbox was the ā€œMurena.io Service Updateā€ from 2024-11-8. Who can check why I did not receive a link to the backup of my files?

As a paying user you can send in your account details on this form from where the helpdesk should be able to have the info sent to you.

I didn’t see any link in my mail.
No password in password app.

Do you have more info ?

Vince

The last set of users whose data was in the sector where we had the issue, should get the emails by end of this week. As you may be aware databases store data in partitions or shards. Issues in a couple of these shards started the outage. We expect to restore all systems by 10 Feb and trigger restart of services on Murena cloud.

Hi Manoj,
Thank you for the link to my files. I have been waiting for it for a long time. The day of the outage 7 October is 117 days ago!

But equally, I understand that you guys have been in big trouble and I appreciate that my files have been found again. I have downloaded them to my computer. I have two questions about this:

  1. When do you expect me to be able to access my files via the cloud as usual again? Is that still possible anyway or will I soon have to upload everything manually again?

  2. You wrote:
Finally we have to let you know there was a problem with the disks storing the back-up of your files so some of your files may be missing or empty. Please check your recovered files well for missing content.
To open the files, I now have to enter the password you provide for each file separately, which is rather cumbersome. Checking for missing content is a huge task now. Is there a faster and better method on the way?

I would like to receive an answer and I hope it will be quicker than those 117 days

Kind regards,
Wubbe.
