Smooth display does not work correctly

Hi everyone, I just got my fairphone 5 with /e/OS and I love it only there is one small thing it’s not a big problem but I’m still curious. When I turn on smooth display it works well and smoothly but when I lock and unlock my phone then smooth display no longer works. Is this something that can be fixed in an update? Do any of you have this problem too? I’m curious

I also found this post talking about the same issue that i have Faiphone 5 90hz display settings not working as exspected

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

Sadly the issue was reintroduced in a later patch again. So I assume most if not all FP5 user have brocken 90hz settings.

In the linked post is my gitlab issue, please feel free to comment and make the report more visible. I just assume not enough people care.

I have had this issue since I bought an FP5 in september 2024, since e/OS 2.4 this issue has been present (again). There is no one looking into this issue it seems.

I got the same issue on eOS 2.7 (2.7-t-20250111460957-official-FP5) on my FP5.

The display overlay from developer options does not seem to reflect the real, buggy refresh rate and always just shows 60/90.

When toggling 90, it works until screen lock. After unlock it is way choppier than 60. So sadly, I’m sticking with 60 for now.

Same here, I tried creating a new account to vote on the gitlab issue. Unfortunately my email address was forbidden??? I used the same one as for this forum

Report an issue

  • Some users may get an error message, while attempting to create a new ID on the /e/OS Gitlab
  • Let us explain the reason behind this error. Some time back we had an issue with a large number of dummy IDs swamping our servers. As a preventive measure we now allow registrations from a limited number of email domains.
  • The error message you may get while attempting to create an /e/OS Gitlab ID, may ask you to contact Murena helpdesk.
  • To contact helpdesk:
  • Paying customers can write in here with issue details
  • Users who use the /e/OS or Murena cloud for free can write on the forum to seek assistance

Ah I see, they had spam issues. I need to request access??? And then they point to the forum “in general”. Not a great experience. Who can I “at” to ask for permission to create an account?

Very true indeed…
Contact @Manoj , he may as well sort out that questionable reference to the forum “in general”, a dedicated thread or the like would be more helpful…
