When is Android 15 coming?

Hi,

november, 5th I ‘ve got an email about Android 15 for Fairphone 4:

“… It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally here. We’re thrilled to announce the official release of Android 15 for Fairphone 4 users….”

And:

“… When it is time,

→ you will receive a push notification on your Fairphone 4.

→ All you have to do is click Update Now,

→ and your device will take care of the rest. …”

After two and a half months, I still haven’t received anything. Is that normal, or should I be concerned?

Does anyone know what’s going on and what the plan is?

if i remember well, it was promissed for early 2026,
we are still in the first quarter of 2026

.

a15 is already available (since july) for device on the community branch…

you may want to switch from recovery mode using https://images.ecloud.global/community/FP4/e-3.4-a15-20260117570255-community-FP4.zip

OK, I Unzipped that file. What ‘s the next step?

unzipping is not needed

[HOWTO] Upgrade my /e/OS to major Android version without loosing /data - #2 by piero

expect a signature mismatch, at this step confirm to install anyway

Are you advising to switch an FP4 to community when community will be dropped in the foreseeable future for this device? …

Android 15 was released as FP4 community, official will almost always lag behind, I guess you are on official ([HOWTO] Give complete /e/OS version info easily for support, answers, comparison etc), in which case it would still be in the pipeline …

And this was an email from Murena, not Fairphone?
Just wondering because it would coincide with Fairphone’s Android 15 release for FP4, while Murena’s FP4 community Android 15 was available since July with official obviously not ready yet.

Hmmm sorry,

You are right. It was an email from Fairphone not from Murena.

i inform an impatient people that it is a possible thing (as reported working by @ urs_lesse)

why it have been so long delayed…

I would be a bit hesitant to take my one-time success as proof that this will work for the following Fairphone models in the same manner. The “starting points” I listed in my “documentation” there might also not be the exact setup of the standard official version.
