My FP4 is lozing it’s battery charge Berry vast. I run the latest e/os update.
In 90 minutes after diconnecting the charger an a 100% full battery the level droped tot 89%. I din’t use the fone in this periode, it was just on the tabel.
I cannot use it a dat without chaging. My pixel 8a with stock os last me fort 2 hole days most of the time.
My FP4 I bought new 3 weeks ago…
What is ging on here? Is thuis a commen problemen on thuis os?
No, it isn’t.
You may dig into what app(s) is (are) the problem by analize battery consumption.
For us to better help you, would you indicate your OS version completely (Settings/Phone information/eOS version)?
No, that’s something which happens mostly if an application runs into a bug / loop which uses a high amount of CPU power for long time, which then empties the batteries very quickly.
Even with mobile data, WLAN, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS and loudspeaker output at once it doesn’t empty the batteries (on low CPU usage) as quick as such an erroneous program, at least my experience with several devices and OS.
You should, as @jobal wrote, check into which application runs with high load (as such battery usage) over prolonged periods of time and force kill it (App → click on it → enforce closure / kill (or how it is called in English).
Then restart it (the application).
Some applications which more often than others tend to run into such high usage scenarios (from my limited experience) are some messengers like Threema, Telegram, some browsers, some push-notified communication applications etc.
If that’s not the cause of your battery drain, the other possibility would be hardware defects, but that is highly unlikely after an update which caused it. If it were already like this before the update, that’s another story.
Addendum: Theoretical could as well be a faulty system process which runs with a very high CPU usage over prolonged periods, but “just by an update” this is neither normal, nor would it stay undetected if it happens on this device regularly.
The Fairphone 4 is widely used with LineageOS and /e/, so it is unlikely that such a bug would occur in system processes on it (it would get fixed in days or weeks if happening on many devices).
I have got same situation, without using the phone in anyways, flymode etc.
Though now after the update to e/OS 3.0.2 the battery seems to lasts longer a little bit
In my case it is the filemanager with the highest battery usage, so. Well, after the new update the battery lost after 12 hours just 20% of its capacity. I think the highest usage of the battery was caused by the network connection, since the new update the VPN does not seems to work correctly, maybe the reason for the low consumption.
This looks like a pointer to Clear cache of affected apps. In the case of File manager Clear storage may be appropriate, only app settings data is lost no real data is lost.
Clear cache of any system apps near the top of the list can be useful too.
WhatsApp, Nova Launcher and Firefox are the "big users with max 16%. The rest is all smaler thans 5% an most onder 1%. This is from 7u30 until now with almost two hours of real use. 60% battery left.
interesting other users report improvements but your devices seems the opposite.
If the on-device diagnotics settings or apps don’t show the issue, I skip them and use battery-historian (example), but it’s developer oriented software.
If you want me to have a look and can’t run this yourself, I’d need a full bugreport zip spanning a few hours / half a day sent to my username at e.email.
I can understand WA, not the launcher nor the browser. For the latter you could try to unset the backgroud usage of battery. For the launcher, clear cache as suggested by @aibd or try another one. The best is send @tcecyk the bug report.
