Do not share test build information
This thread has been created specifically for posting information on official /e/OS builds.
To understand the difference between build types refer this guide
Please do not post information or links to /e/OS test builds on the forum.
The test builds are as yet untested and under development, and may in some cases cause user devices to soft brick.
Such information can confuse other users who do not see these builds in the updater.
Remember not all users who come to this forum are experts in installing and formatting custom ROMs and can end up seriously damaging their devices by trying out these test builds
If you are genuinely interested in helping with the testing activities and also understand how to fix and do some minor level of testing on custom ROMS, you are welcome to join the testing team
As part of the testing team you can share your comments on the dedicated testing telegram channel.
Fairphone | FP3+ | FP3 | previously on e-2.4.1-t-20241009439852-community-FP3 | not rooted
Installed normally in 33 minutes and seems to work normally as well. Interesting observation: I got offered two /e/OS 2.5 versions, one dated from 9 November, one 11 November. I chose the latter.
The community build is available for all FP3, FP4, FP5 right now, but the stable/official build not yet (the latter is what you have if you bought your FP from Murena).
You can check availability of FAIRPHONE /e/OS updates here
Updates Galaxy Tab S6 and S5e and S10e mobile. No problems so far.
How does the Unified Push work? I found a setting to enable it, but no configuration options.
I have ntfy app installed as I need some extra topics to subscriber to. I have disabled builtin ntfy but Tusky still listing two ntfy options to choose from.
I am super exited about the new UnifiedPush notifications in /e/OS as I requested this feature two years ago!
While there are ups and downs with /e/OS, there is still a constant improvement in the right direction and UnifiedPush is yet another liberation from a monopoly. Congratulations to the /e/OS team and thank you very much!
@Manoj could you please open again my old request so I can resolve it?
Hopefully nothing on the surface! UnifiedPush is the open source equivalent to Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). Every Android app developer who wanted to send you a message (Push Notification) had to use their service. There was no alternative as FCM is baked into Android via their PlayServices. While MicroG supports FCM and this is why we all receive Push Notifications, e.g. if you get a message in Signal, there was no other way to implement such a feature properly without involving Google – until today!
In the past, if you’d like to use UnifiedPush in one of your Android applications, your users would have to understand the difference between FCM and UnifiedPush and install an additional application + configuration. Not an option for a regular user. /e/OS has now UnifiedPush pre-installed and configured so every developer can just start using it and users hopefully won’t know the difference
Hi!
Vendor Name: Xiaomi
Devices Names: Mi 10T Pro 5G & Redmi Note 9 Pro
Codes Name: apollon & gauguin
Version of /e/OS which existed previously: e-2.4.1-t
Devices not rooted
Update went through without problems except it needed a second reboot after the installation, this was the case with previous updates, too. Without it internet connectivity and functionality of several apps is unavailable.
The updater app is still malfunctioning. For one it seems to not respect the frequency setting. I set it to 30 minutes since there was an update coming, but it does not check every 30 minutes or at least does not show it in the “last checked” section. Also there were no notifications about available updates in the past (I am on e/OS for half a year). For the 2.5 update I got a notification but when I opened the updater there was no update available. I had to toggle “show all available updates” and hit the refresh button a dozen times to get the update.
The camera app is still not working properly but this too has been the case before the 2.5 update. I switched to Google Camera a while ago since the automatic settings work way better there. With the e/OS Camera App I can’t get decent pictures in whatever setting, it might have to do with the usage of the different lenses as other users have reported.
App Lounge seems to be working again now but only after cleaning cache and data and I noticed an update for a specific app in Aurora Store that App Lounge doesn’t show.
In the location setting in Advanced Privacy the map only shows fake locations but not the real one. This could be for many reasons, maybe others can check?
That’s all for now, as always thank you for your work. I voted for e/OS at the Proton thing, good luck with that!
Version of /e/OS or Stock which existed previously: 2.4.1
Is the device Rooted / Not rooted: Not rooted
Update went smooth.
Everything seems to work fine except /e/OS Camera. Camera fails to show preview when DNG capture is activated. This has been the case since Faiphones camera was introduced.
Opened and used all my usual apps which are working properly.
