I did a full reinstall of the bootloader, full wipe, install of e 2.6.3 U. After going through the setup, I get a normal background with no icons for a few seconds and then it goes black, except for the status bar at the top. I can still pull that down and do the normal functions there like screen brightness or change wifi settings, but going back to the main screen, there are no icons and it’s black.
I tried re-formatting and reinstalling a second time and going with “gestures” instead of the “3 button” but it’s still the same - black screen with no icons. Once in a while it will flash grey and then go black.
not able to open (pull up) the launcher, it is stuck and not responding while the settings menu (pull down) works
unfortunately I reverted to 2.5 and am unable to test
I have seen no updates yet for my Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e gts4lv, and reading from the above comments it seems that there will be no OTA updates for this device …
Can you please confirm that the only way would be sideloading, or might there be and OTA update in the future?
Thank you in advance, and have a great New Year
PS: @tomib I have another question, looking at your post:
Is Lawnchair working? I have seen that the latest release is still in beta, years ago I had an old version running fine (with /e/OS below version 1) and it was possible to customize in a way that I would need now for another device (different post open for that topic). Thank you in advance
In order to answer this question on would simply go to Smartphone Selector → Search for the device → then Command line | Install (in your case) → then look under Downloads → /e/OS build.
Does the device have an official=stable build ? In this case no, so no OTA Upgrade of Android version.
Does the device have a current Community=dev build ? In this case Yes – we see
So if one currently had for example e-2.4.1-t-20241009439852-community-gts4lv there would be one more OTA update to e-2.5-t-xxx. After that for this reason:
Community builds do not receive OTA Upgrade of Android version
one would have to do a manual upgrade in order Upgrade from Android 13 (T) to Android 14 (U) … in this case … to run e-2.6.3-u-20241218455570-community-gts4lv
It is now clear, I am on e-2.5-t now so there will not be any OTA update to A14 U … I will have a look how to easily update to e-2.6.3-u-20241218455570-community-gts4lv (I am not at ease with flashing ROMs …)

Download and installation fast enough. Two major problems:
Blisslauncher not fully working as it is not possible to drag and drop App icons. Only possible to put them together in a group but not rearrange (move an icon between to other for example on main view). The galery was gone after update and came back after an additional restart but I had to rearrange, which was not possible the intended way
Power consumption is heavy. Before my smartphones battery lasted one and a half day, now it is only one day.
You are right, I switched back to 3 buttons and now it works. I don’t understand why the first day after upgrading it didn’t work.
I will edit my message, thank you!
I found a workaround to rearrange icons on Bliss launcher on 2.6.3: Temporarily move the last 2 apps on the bottom right to another page, this will free up space on the launcher. Then rearrange your icons as you wish, and put the 2 apps back at the bottom right in their original position.
This worked on my FP4.

There are fewer partitions to flash here than previously on Android 13 (T).
However, the install script seems to attempt to flash more partitions than are available to flash, and it seems to be set up to abort with a failure if it can’t flash a partition.
I feel neither confident about the number of partitions nor about the probability of the install script running through successfully without editing it beforehand.

At first I did the update as a “dirty” update from eOS 2.5t to e2.6u and there was large battery drain
the battery would empty in about 12 hours. I have since done a data backup and a fresh install resetting the phone per the command line method. The battery drain is no more, in 20 hours I have only used 25% battery that included a 1 hour and 15 minute voice call.
So all is well with this build if done the correct way…

Install went well and all functions work as they should. Please note not used daily yet, will be put to use in next month full time.
Upgrade need a Full Wipe. So I lost some data, the Cloud is unfortunately still unavailable.
So far everything works good. Thanks.
Was a bit tricky, so i post my way:
