Feedback for v2.6.3

25/12 Music app bug: the app doesn’t remember last song, or queue playlist. Everytime I open app, it doesn’t remember anything.

Vendor Name: Google
Device Name: Pixel 5
Device CodeName: Redfin
Version of /e/OS which existed previously: 2.5 T Official
Is the device Rooted / Not Root

Hello,
No problem with this update.
I’m still surprised by the time it takes to update on the Pixel 5, about 45 minutes, whereas on my old Samsung S7 it takes less than 10 minutes.
Many thanks to the whole team.

Vendor Name: Fairphone Murena
Device name: Fairphone 4
Device CodeName: FP 4
Version of /e/OS previously : 2.5-t
Version of /e/OS : 2.6.3-u-20241217455359-official-FP4
Device: Not rooted

Most Functions work well but wireless screencasting to my TV fails since the Android U upgrade.

Thanks to the team nonetheless !

After a few failed attempts I got the upgrade installed by

heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery-e-2.6.3-u-20241217455391-community-gta4xlwifi.img --no-reboot

factory reset as described in the install manual

adb sideload e-2.6.3-u-20241217455391-community-gta4xlwifi.zip

The sideload complained about signature failed to be verified. I chose to install anyway and it worked afterwards.

Cannot create account at gitlab (email domains not allowed), therefore I post the bug report here:

DNS broken when wireguard VPN is enabled

  • /e/ version: 2.6.3-u-20241217455359-official-FP4
  • Device model(s): Fairphone 4
  • Developer mode enabled: yes
  • Device rooted: no
  • Trackers blocker enabled: yes

The problem

DNS is not resolving when wireguard VPN is enabled

Steps to reproduce

  • upgrade to 2.6.3
  • enable wireguard VPN
  • try to resolve a non cached domain name, e.g. accessing a previously unaccessed webpace

What is the current behavior?
DNS fails to resolve

What is the expected correct behavior?
DNS should resolve

Solutions

Workaround
disable wireguard to resolve IP, then enable it again

At the moment I would not recommend Fossify Launcher because there are several bugs concerning widgets etc. (see Issues · FossifyOrg/Launcher · GitHub for details). I switched to Lawnchair which you can get via the f-droid repo of IzzyOnDroid: Lawnchair - IzzyOnDroid F-Droid Repository Lawnchair has similar features.

Hello,

I have just upgraded my POCO F3 (global) to version 2.6.3, but I still can’t add a google account or retrieve my emails

I always get the following message
“This application is blocked
This application has attempted to access sensitive information in your Google Account. Google has blocked this access in order to protect your account.” (error message translated from French)

I thought that version 2.6.3 fixed this problem?

(For information, I got round the problem for the calendar by using DavX)

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Updated from previous offcial version
Version of /e/OS: 2.6.3-t 20241217455358 official fp5
Device: Not Rooted

Updated my FP5 OTA and everything works except the fingerprint recognition from the home screen. Opening it with the Passkey works luckily.

I removed all fingerprints and added them again. No luck.
Fingerprints are also not recognized in apps.

Working fine here, also running 2.6.3U.

Dirty upgrade by booting into existing recovery and sideloading the image without any wiping worked.

Only issue I see: in the keyboard the popup character selector is a little bit missalingend. Same applies for Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.

I could narrow it done more: DNS does work in brave browser, however it does not work in most apps.
I’ve tried 1.1.1.1 8.8.8.8 and 9.9.9.9 as DNS servers in the wireguard config. None of them make DNS work in apps other than the brave browser

… all well, no issues from what I see so far…
Too bad S is stuck on security patches of October … but no worries.
Looking forward to U for S7…

Thanks a lot for keeping that hardware alive!

No audio from any of smartphone’s speakers with Signal 7.28.4 on an FP4, during a call.
Smartphone’s microphone works - caller can hear me - without the BT headset connection.
BT headset works in both directions.
Ticket created.

Stucks in first run wizard - see this topic.

Previously installed LOS 21, what means no rollback to 2.5 possible.

Updated/Upgraded to 2.6.3-U, upgraded recovery first, and then a dirty upgrade of the rom and everything went well and everything is working.

HowTo : Sony Xperia XZ2 compact, How to update from 2.5-T A13 to 2.6.3-U A14

Everything fine on Pixel 5 redfin after update from 2.5-t to 2.6-t.
The confusion about the Android 14 update was unnecessary, though.
Thanks anyway

What do you mean by that ?
DeepL-translator didn’t help me to understand…

Updated from 2.5 to 2.6.3-U on Google pixel 7a lynx, unrooted, without any trouble.

At startup, my mobile data was disabled, and it took me a while to understand why I wasn’t getting any mobile data. It was easy to enable it back through the settings.

Nothing else to report, except my satisfaction :vulcan_salute:
