[HOWTO] Installing Banking Apps

yeah, it’s a pain. As you can see here and in telegram group, a lot of banking apps aren’t working with eOS :frowning:

Thanks for reply, it always remains a splendid OS

@boldrek perhaps try this - it will take time but if everyone does it, it’s the best in the long run!

ps some banking apps are working fine, e.g. BUNQ - i can recommend it, it’s really a whole new banking experience, it’s like all the IT-smartness that we’ve seen developed over the past 20 years applied in a banking app

I agree on the banking experience, but they keep on increasing the costs from 0 to 1 then to 7,99 euro’s a month. Their help desk is awful, they use google translate which leads to some funny conversations.

Instead of using shelter, I’m using Island which helps me using apps of my bank (DKB). (Let’s see how long that works. (Shelter is not working for me.)

Island and shelter working the same way. The only difference is, that shelter is FOSS and Island closed source.

Yesterday I have installed DKB Tan2go on my Mi Max3 with pie after removing root. So the best way is always working without root.

I’m using /e/ on a Fairphone 3.
ING Banking to Go for Germany so far works very good. Installed via the Aurora store without any problems. I don’t however get transaction notifications pop ups that I previously got using normal Android.
I also downloaded the Australian ING Banking app from the Aurora store but then decided I didn’t really need it so deleted it. Nothing to suggest it wouldn’t work.
Slightly related to this, ‘Payback Pay’ no longer works, although the Payback app is installable from the /e/ app store and otherwise seems to work the way it should.

I installed DKB-Tan2Go and DKB-Banking-App through Aurora on my S9 with preinstalled /e/. Both apps work. Now I wonder if it is possible to also enable VISA Secure. According to their website this is only possible with the original OS, i.e. no jailbreaking or rooting: https://www.dkb.de/info/sicherheit/visa-secure/. Did someone manage to enable this?

Yes, I know. I have tried it also. But I don’t find any way to get it running. Sorry.

I can confirm that Revolut and Swisscard are working with the Magisk Hide procedure

Revolut app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.revolut.revolut
Swisscard app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.swisscard.prod

the Germans are different

pls, don’t double post. Pls remove one off your posts. thx

Sadly, for those insisting on keeping root, SafetyNet’s dreaded hardware attestation is rolling out, making it much harder for Magisk to hide root. Just for information for bank app users with newer hardware and wanting root (old hardware is unaffected).

Best of luck. :sunglasses:

That’s what I have posted half an hour ago in community telegram group :+1:

Downloaded on old phone. Backed up with android assistant. Moved to USB stick. Opened on mi8 using stock file manager. Working perfect. Tide works also.
Curve keeps crashing. Which sucks. No root
Long live E/os
