Low Call Volume on Fairphone 4 with /e/ OS – Any Fix?

I have a problem with /e/ OS on my Fairphone 4. I installed /e/ OS on the device about a year ago. However, calls are always very quiet. The speaker and Bluetooth headset work fine, but the device itself is way too quiet, even though the volume is set to maximum.

Is there any way to adjust this?

I would be very grateful for any tips.

I posted a very similar request here I March, so also keen on funding out about how to get the volume up and the sound quality improved (right now it sometimes sounds like the audio in the normal loudspeaker, the one you press against your ear, is distorted because of being set to high).

Hi and thanks first and foremost to the team and all developers maintaining and improving e/os/! I have a Fairphone 4 and recently made the switch from Fairphone OS to e/os/. I had the same issue from day 1.
has anyone tried to change the speaker? can it come faulty from the factory?

A similar post to this led to nowhere at forums on fairphone (com). And I’m very upset.

Same problem here, even with Signal calls.
I remember that audio on this phone got off to a rocky start on e/OS/…

I hope that this will be resolved by a “fresh start” once a15 rolls out to the FP4, although I don’t know if that technically is a reasonable hope to hold.
